New Year's Resolutions: 2019!

I have never really been one to make a list of ‘New Year’s Resolutions’. Maybe that’s because I ALWAYS have a list of things that I’m hoping to do better. But as each new year rolls in, I try to take some time to reflect about the last year. I write down the things I’m most grateful for; I give myself some time to grieve the tougher moments; and (most importantly) I allow myself time to dream a little bit.

I have always been a dreamer...and I married one too! But being a dreamer can be a tricky quality though! If you’re always looking to the future, sometimes you forget to enjoy the present. So on my eternal list of ‘resolutions’, I’m always reminding myself to slooooowww down and savor the moment. This year I hope to do that more often. I want my girls to see the hard work that is essential to any dream coming true, but I also want them to be thankful for the journey.

The last half of the year was a whirlwind. Opening up the doors to The Happy Place has been exhilarating. It has surprised me around every corner and brought me joy in a way I didn’t know possible. I never imagined I would ever create a destination that is totally dedicated to the things that bring me JOY.  I cracked the gate sharing my passion for interior design and how I create happy homes for my family and friends and little did I know, that was just the beginning! I truly believe a home should be a reflection of whomever lives there. My greatest hope is that The Happy Place empowers all of us to curate and connect to the lives we want. I hope that it is a pit stop on your way to designing a reality that fulfills you. It doesn’t have to be ‘on trend’ or cost millions of dollars, it can be DIY or high end luxury...it’s all priceless because it celebrates YOU. So this year, I’m making a commitment to not worry about letting my happy flag fly! I’m going to show you the the emotional, the sentimental, the REAL me...and not worry so much how it will be perceived.

Since I’m going to make a conscious effort  to slow down a bit and really savor the moments, I’m excited to make this a year of trying new things. And I have ‘politely’ requested that all of my friends come along for the ride. So this year, you will get a chance to meet the incredible people that fill my heart and get to see us trying and learning new things. It may get messy, but I promise it will be fun...or terrifying...or delicious...or inspiring...and hopefully we come out in one piece!

I also am going to make an enormous push into my own personal wellness. And I promise you this is music to Nick’s ears! So, yes NICK I will try that new workout gadget you bought on Amazon and take my vitamins...as long as you promise to throw me a bone and hit a LEKFIT class with me ;) !

Clearly, I have some work to do in 2019. There is nothing like the feeling of a fresh start and I’m running with it. I’m excited to share it all with you and I’m so grateful to have you along for the ride!

Wishing you all a healthy and HAPPY 2019!

Xx,
Jo
