Serving Up Serving Piece Essentials

DEE

I have a collection of plain white platters that are inexpensive, easy to find, and always look amazing for any occasion. I love the Pottery Barn ‘coup’ collection for basics! Sturdy and simple and you can slowly build a complete set!

GET YOUR GREENS!

As essential as a platter is to a serving piece collection, I would say so is a salad bowl! I have a deep love affair with these babies and I will always pick one up if a special one catches my eye. I love making beautiful salads, but I find tossing them when you’re ready to serve is a nightmare. I look for deep bowls to help me keep from losing half on the ground!

There are so many beautiful salad bowls out there and they can be pretty versatile pieces. But I suggest at least ONE pretty wooden one like this one! No matter what kind of dinner you’re hosting, a wooden salad bowl will fit right in!

I also love the pop of colors on this bowl!

YOU ‘BOWL’ ME OVER!

Another ‘must have’ is a couple of large serving bowls. I love buying sets because it offers a variety of sizes, but still cohesive!

This Crate & Barrel set will fit into most any type of table service and can be served straight from the oven! That means less dishes!

My love for wooden serving pieces doesn’t just end with a big, giant salad bowl. This set is already on order to add to my collection!

This footed bowl is also a great addition! And so versatile. I could see a gorgeous salad or a big pasta dish served up in it!

SERVING UP THE GOODNESS!

What good is a serving piece if you don’t have utensils to serve them up with! Okay, hands ARE totally acceptable, but serving utensils can be so dang pretty and you should absolutely have some in your collection.

Having at least one great set of salad servers is a must! I love these from Nordstrom. Classic wood, with a little character!

To cover all your bases, this gold set is super versatile and affordable!

CHEESE, PLEASE!

Another weakness of mine is a beautiful cheese platter. I’m currently on a self imposed buying freeze of these guys because I just can’t help myself! I use my cheese board for everything. A simple cheese plate is a pretty option for displaying an appetizer.

There are so many gorgeous offerings and they last a lifetime. I LOVE this one from the Shoppe by Amber Interiors. True story: I love everything from this store, but their tabletop offerings are so special!

Another pretty cheeseboard I just added to my wish list!

Oh boy, did this board catch my eye! Love the marble detail!

WET MY WHISTLE!

Not necessarily an ‘essential’, but I think having a nice pitcher is always a good idea.

I’m currently coveting this Seagrass caged one!

But I would also look for one like this that would sit nicely on a formally set table.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A LITTLE ‘EXTRA’...

Once you have your basics, it’s always fun to add a little interest to your table with these cuties.

I can’t handle how sweet this bread basket is! I’m already brainstorming different ways to dress it up for all my little celebrations!

I go wild for a tiered serving piece. It’s great for small bite sized desserts and appetizers. And I even use them as a base for a beautiful flower arrangement! Here’s a simple, but beautiful option!

Can’t serve the cheese without the knives!

This is so extra, but I can already see serving little bits and nibbles during cocktail hour on this beauty!

A chip and dip platter is always a good idea!

My collection of serving pieces is always growing, but I find I have a few in constant rotation! Check a piece off in each category and you will always be prepared for whatever your entertaining needs are!!

What are your ‘must have’s’???

Xx,

Jo
