Lemon Ginger Turmeric Shots

It’s that time of year again. There’s tissues all around the house, sniffles behind every corner and every time I think I’ve rid our home of the winter season’s “greetings”, another one of us comes down with something else. On my search for some extra immunity help, I came across this recipe from Eating Well. These Frozen Ginger Lemon Turmeric Shots are a great way to help boost your line of defense! Ginger and turmeric have ample anti-inflammatory properties and have been used for centuries to support the immune system.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

1 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 4 lemons)

½ cup chopped fresh ginger

2 tablespoons chopped fresh turmeric or 2 teaspoons ground turmeric

3 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon water

⅛ teaspoon cracked black pepper

9-oz. silicone ice cube tray

Instructions:

Combine lemon juice, ginger, turmeric, honey, water and pepper in a blender; process until nice and smooth.

Strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a large measuring cup, pressing solids with a spoon to extract juice; you should have about 1 cup of juice. Discard the solids leftovers

Evenly pour the juice into your ice cube tray. Freeze until solid, at least 1 hour.

To make 1 serving: Bring 8 ounces water to a boil. Place 1 frozen cube in a mug or heatproof glass; add the hot water. Serve immediately.
