Jo’s Tips for Styling Your Home

Photography by Faith Danielle

The way your home is styled should be an inspired by your life and your story! Home décor is a way for you to bring warmth and comfort to your home, and for it to reflect who you are. It’s easy to get wrapped up in trying to style your home a certain way or to go for a certain look... But I truly believe that if you approach design with these three basic principles, you will stay on track with creating your own beautiful aesthetic.

Here are 3 of my tips for how to style your home:

Tip 1: Add Greenery – I’m always looking for unique ways to put florals or greenery into different décor items. I think adding greenery and florals can really change the feeling of a room and give life to the space! Head outside with some clippers and collect branches and greenery — This is also a super inexpensive way to decorate for a party or event at your home.

Tip 2: Tell a Story – Find pieces that tell a story, feel personal, or add interest into the way something is styled. The special touches are what make a beautiful space really feel like home. Think picture frames, old family antiques, used books, souvenirs from travel — Personal items that only you will have.

Tip 3: Have Confidence with Your Décor and forget about what is trendy – Take a leap, mix a pattern, and add a few colors. Good design is about confidence! Forget what is on trend at the moment, and just go for what you love! We all have an inner designer in us, so use tangible items to tell your story in your home.
