Easy Fall Floral Arrangement

Photos by Sara Magnolia

I wanted to try to create our holiday floral arrangements a little differently this year, so instead of doing a traditional bouquet, I decided to mix it up and add some dried flowers.

Dried flower bouquets are becoming popular because of their unique beauty – they have so much texture + depth and the colors are much richer. They also last way longer than live flowers AND are a great option for those with allergies.

The combination of colors and textures screams fall to me and are PERFECT for Thanksgiving and beyond. The best part is this was SO EASY to make.

Here are the steps:

  1. Start with your dried flowers – I purchased my bouquet, but if you have time, you can dry your own (bloothis.com has a great step-by-step guide.)

  2. Add the larger dried flowers to the exterior of the vase – They will help to shape your bouquet.

  3. Add the larger live flowers to the interior.

  4. Start adding the smaller dried and live flowers.

  5. Add dried wheat in for an accent.

  6. Adjust flowers as needed.

Tips for caring for dried flowers:

  1. Don’t place them in water.

  2. Use an opaque vase.

  3. Keep out of direct sunlight.

  4. Place in a dry room.

  5. Try not to move them around to avoid breakage.
