Fall Porch Inspiration – Decorating For The Season

Photos by Sara Magnolia

Fall is here and that means that Halloween is right around the corner…  And if you are like me, you are totally in the festive décor mood. I love getting my fall home décor together and making the most of the changing seasons.

One trick I love when it comes to my outdoor décor is to make it easy on yourself and decorate now to last through Thanksgiving! With Halloween and Thanksgiving so close to each other, to me, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense to try and switch up your décor, especially outside.

That’s why I’m a big fan of laying décor and adding elements that can quickly and easily be swapped out.

Here is how I like to do it: Start with your traditional fall pieces like, pumpkins (I love using Heirloom pumpkins), gourds, hay bales, lanterns, wreaths + florals — Items you can leave out until the beginning of December. These will act as the staple’s pieces to your front porch décor.

Then, simply layer on your Halloween pieces! All I did was take a fun Halloween skeleton, a witch hat, and a sign and add a candy bucket and voilà! Your porch has been made Halloween ready and you can take the décor down on November 1st in about five minutes.

Not only will this save you a ton of time, but you’re left with a porch that looks beautiful for Thanksgiving.

We love to see how you all decorate your home too! Tag us on Instagram to share how your festive porch displays turned out!
