Wellness Series: Foam Roller

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to take a class led by the fantastic Lauren Roxburgh. Her approach to total body wellness was so inspiring — And if you’re like me, you will be amazed at the life-changing benefits of working with your body's fascia. As a result, the foam roller has become a non-negotiable in my wellness routine.

My body has never felt better than when I spend a few minutes rolling through my pressure points, my muscles, and target my tight and sore spots. One of my favorite moves is so gentle to do, but it opens up my chest, improves posture, and targets the stress-related soreness that creeps in between my shoulder blades… And this simple move is just the TIP of the iceberg.

Other benefits of using a foam rolling:

 

1.    Foam rolling can be beneficial for easing sore muscles and reducing inflammation.

 

2.     Foam rolling may help increase your range of motion which is important for flexibility and performance.

 

3.     Foam rolling can help loosen and break up your fascia. Fascia are the body’s connective tissues and contribute to the appearance of cellulite.

 

4.     Many people find foam rolling to be relaxing. Breaking up tightness in your muscles may help you feel less tense and calmer as a result.
